Okay, okay...April Fool's Day was last week!  Not this week!
Come on, old man weather...you've got to give us a break.

So...with the school buses cancelled...

...we gathered the classes together for each grade.

Four different Grade Two classes made their way into our room in Block Four.

After spending block one with Mrs. Roche...

...block two with Mrs. Eaton...

...block three with Mrs. Akkawi...

...and block four with Mr. Hamer.

We read a few fables and a legend...then went to work on a cool wordsearch containing words that begin with consonant blends.

The children enjoyed working in groups.

They worked alongside friends from the other classes.

Every group acted as a true team.

Lots of focus.

Boys and girls work alongside each other.

Some wonderful EA's helped out.

Coloured pencil crayons and regular crayons were used.

Sharing ideas together.

Smile for the camera.

Children enjoy working in various areas of the classroom.

Say "Hi" to Mr. Hamer!

A busy room full of great children.

Tennis balls on the chairs help keep the floor in tiptop shape.

Looking good!

So much fun.

A great smile.

Active concentration.

Best buds.

Super job!

Back to our scientist visit.

The wheel and axle center helped produce this car.

The inclined plane center.

Scientist Irene leads this group.

The lever center.

The wedge center.

A big wave hello!

More fun at the wheel and axle center.

Our parent volunteers have a ton of fun too!

As do the kids!

Let's work together.

Science is so much fun.

We all agree.
Have a great evening everyone!

Day 133 - Tuesday, April 9

Thursday found everyone back at school following the snow day.

One of our young friends returned from an exciting trip.

She read her diary entries from her travels.

She did a superb job reading aloud in front of her peers.

Our grade twos gathered all together once again.

We learned some of our mass responses.

Mr. Hamer brought his guitar over to Mrs. Eaton's class.

We reviewed a number of the songs we will sing at our First Holy Communion.

Mrs. Roche and Mrs. Eaton reviewed expectations.

Our teacher helpers were present as well.

Lots of eager participants.

In choir we rehearsed for our Thursday performance.

Some of our ukulele players.

We gathered in our proper rows.

We're thrilled to be performing downtown at the Chateau Laurier.

In the afternoon we watched a short cartoon of the story of Lazarus.

The children gained a deeper appreciation of Jesus' compassion for His followers.
Have a wonderful evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 134 - Wednesday, April 9

Wednesday was building day.

In the afternoon's last block the children had the choice...

...to read...

...to finish up work...

...or to play...

...with all of the creative toys found around the classroom.
Of course, many decided to catch up on unfinished assignments.

Back at our science day we see our lovely parent volunteer demonstrating how the width of the axle makes a difference in the amount of work that can be accomplished.

As she spun the wheel and axle, the different objects rose at different speeds!

The wedge centre found us using cookie cutters.

To make great designs!

Mother and daughter!

Ditto!

A lovely bulletin board in front of the Zone.

The Chateau Laurier where our choir will be performing Thursday.
Mr. Hamer and Mrs. Blackmore will arrive school at 7:00 AM tomorrow!
Have a wonderful evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 135 - Thursday, April 11

Thursday morning found our choir visiting the Chateau Laurier Hotel.
There was a convention of all Directors of Education and Superintendents from boards all across the province of Ontario.

Following their breakfast, there was a liturgy.

We sang two songs at the liturgy.

Then we gathered in the lobby for a photograph.

Interesting...just a moment before this photo was taken, Conrad Black had walked by.
Of course, the children didn't know who Conrad Black is.  Hehehe.

In our special "back stage" room.

The children looked great in their colourful T-shirts.

The view from our room's window.

Snack time.

We are very proud of our choir!

Mr. Hamer showed the students his electric/acoustic guitar.

Our special person of the day.

She leads the group through calendar.

Everyone knows the date.

She asks a few more questions.

Someone in the back must know the correct answer.

Every day a different student gets to lead the calendar.

A new friend.

Fitting right in.

Lots of smiles.

For a great day!
Have a lovely evening!

Day 136 - Friday, April 12

It's been a busy week.

But Friday is always fun.  Love the colourful shirt!

Last block of the week finds us at play.

Funny faces.

Love those cars.

"Look, Mr. Hamer...a chair!"

Love it!

Love the acting as well.

If we build it they will come.

And...they do!

Creative.

Another look back at yesterday downtown.

Our ukulele players.

Colourful shirts and colourful ukuleles!

Backstage!

Snack time.

Smiles.

Cheers for a job well done!

We are having fun.

Check us out!

At the round table.

Love the artwork on the wall of our room.

The view outdoors.

Another shot of our St. Bernard choir on the stairwell.
Have a great weekend everyone!
