Monday of this week was the Easter Monday holiday..."holy day".
Mr. Hamer's puppy, Lilly, enjoyed basking in the partial shade on a very warm day!

On Tuesday, Mr. Hamer's close friend and colleague, Mr. Papineau came by for a visit.

Mr. Hamer was reading a legend at the time, so he passed the book over to Mr. Papineau.

The children sat quietly at carpet.

Mr. "P" regaled the group with a few stories of his own following the reading of the legend.

The students at carpet.

A few more pics from last week's gym class.

A cool goalie.

Make that two cool goalies.

A posed picture!  Hehehe!

We split the gym in two for separate activities.

Our hoola hoop fun.

Lots of smiles.

Day 142 - Wednesday, April 24

Our class began a poetry unit on this day.

The first poem we wrote was a Biopoem.

Yes, we write about ourselves.

We've used descriptive words in the poem.

We wrote about things we like to do.

We wrote about things we would like to see.

It's fun writing poetry.

It's also fun creating colourful works of art.

Using simple devices.

Building is fun.

Some more pics from last week's sunny day.

Here, the girls are playing "shadow tag".

It's also fun just "hanging around".

No jackets...

...mean freedom in spring.

Having fun with art.

Outdoors.

We just love the weather.

Let's hope for more sunny days this spring.

Let's also hope for more warmer temps as well.

Love the ears!
Have a great evening everyone!

Day 143 - Thursday, April 25

Today we had fun displaying the many class books we have published so far this year.

Some books were written due to a special event held at school.

Some were written for the holidays.

Our covers are very colourful.

At the end of the school year the books will be taken apart...

...and each student's pages will be amassed...

...into a single, large "memory book".

Some of the books were created as part of our homework.

Some were reviews of the many months of school.

Others dealt with the seasons.

Or...religion lessons.

The books are dear to our hearts.

Some of the publications dealt with special lessons we enjoyed with guest speakers.

Others involved some detailed colouring.

Indeed, we do enjoy our class books.

Too much fun!

One of our later class book creations.

Thursdays find us in the library/learning commons.

We enjoy visiting here.

Reading is so much fun.

Says these girls.

Some chapter books too.

Lounge lizards!  Hehehe!

A great big smile.

A variety of grins.

Reading can be a shared experience.

Oh yeah!

Or...a solitary one.

He loves this book.

Hi there!

A non-fiction selection.

Ziploc bags help to protect the books.

Making a selection is fun.

As is sharing a table together!
Have a lovely evening everyone!

Day 144 - Friday, April 26

This week we worked on co-ordinate geometry.

The students were asked to volunteer up at the blackboard and draw a design in a certain cell on the grid.

They enjoy coming up to the board.

It's a long reach for some.

Another item to be drawn.

She aces it!

As do all of the others.

They are proud of their achievements, no matter how small or how big.

Geometry is fun.

All math is fun.

A nice smile.

Another proud math champ.

The old blackboard comes in handy at times still in this day and age.

Friday morning found the entire school at church.

As we always do, we celebrate our school Easter mass the Friday following Easter.

The alter at church.

Some of the children who will be receiving the sacraments this school year.

A lovely statue.

The stained glass windows in the church.

They are beautiful.

The entrance to the church.

A very special wall.

The doors.  Our grade two teachers will be at the 1:30 PM mass this Sunday for our First Holy Communion.

Two really good friends say, "Have a great weekend!"

They will...and so will we!
All the best, Mr. Hamer OCT
