Today we learned about the Palms we received on Palm Sunday at church.

The children then made their own palms using the palms of their hands!

We learned that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people gathered along the route and waved palms then laid them down on his path.

We also learned that the palms we received at church yesterday will later be burned.

The ashes remaining from the burned palms then will be stored to be used for next year's Ash Wednesday.

We also learned that Jesus chose to ride into Jerusalem on a humble donkey rather than a King's horse.

Jesus wanted to teach us that he was a humble King.

We also learned that the Pharisees resented the presence of Jesus.

The pharisees felt that their words were the more important ones.

Of course, they were fearful that their power would be reduced if this Man on the donkey truly was the leader of the people.

The children worked hard creating their palms.

They share stories while they work.

We watched a lovely cartoon about the event.

Jesus is entering Jerusalem on the donkey followed by His disciples.

Two of his disciples had earlier been sent to retrieve the donkey from a local farmer.
Jesus told them to tell the farmer that his donkey would be returned later that day.

Of course, Jesus was sad as he entered this amazing place.

The palms are waving.

Jesus rides by the people.

A lady showed us how to make the lovely palms.

With a wonderful saying.

Monday saw the children stay indoors for most of the recess periods.

The children enjoy building with the variety of toys.

Teamwork.

Creativity.

A little gardener.

A few more pics that have come my way from our choir event at the Chateau Laurier last week.

The room is amazing!

We are prepared.

We are colourful.

We have a great conductor.

We sang a lovely song entitled, "Imagine a World."

Then it was back on the bus...

...following our group picture in the lobby, an image I shared with you a couple of times last week!  Have a great evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 138 - Tuesday, April 16

Tuesday finds us at carpet.

Our "Teacher for the Day" asks pertinent calendar questions.
There is even a hidden word puzzle on the board...it will be solved as Easter Sunday when the students have guessed all of the letters.

She's a serious teacher!

Love the heart on the shirt.

But wait...

...ah...it has changed colour!

We have some eager respondents to our teacher's questioning.

Eager beavers for sure.

A look into our Reconciliation Booklet.

So far we have read the parable of the Lost Sheep.

An older version of the same story.

We read about how Zacchaeus was forgiven.

Again...an older version.

The children know the story of the Prodigal Son.

A modern version.

We have read "A Meal For Many" where Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes.

The children also know about the first miracle Jesus performed when he turned the water into wine at Mary's urging when Mary's friend had run out of wine at their child's wedding.

Yes, Jesus will always look after us.

Just as He looked after His disciples.

Another nice Religion worksheet completed.

Recently we used scissors for a craft and Mr. Hamer got crafty with them too!

Just a reminder that we are collecting plastic bags to help out our environment.  This image is from a school in Florida.

And yet another creative use of the collected bags.  Yes, we must clean up our planet for all living creatures!  Have a great evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 139 - Wednesday, April 17

Each day brings us to carpet.

We talk about the date for the day.  We also talk about weeks, months, years, etc.

They certainly know the answers.

They're a lot better than I am at it!

Great exercise.

Lots of body moves.

Mini stick hockey is fun as well.

Everyone was welcome to choose either activity.

The boys chose hockey.

The girls choose the hoops.

The game goes on.

She's good at making the hoop return to her.

A great trio.

Her shirt...

...matches her hoola hoop.

We divided the gym in half.

The benches helped to keep the ball in play.

"We're having so much fun!"

"Yes we are!"

And...so are they!
Have a great four day weekend.
Check in soon to see Thursday's pics.

Day 140 - Thursday, April 18

Thursday temperatures found us outdoors for some fresh air and play time.

Oh my, how long we have been waiting for this weather.

Those caps provide shade.

Lots of smiles.

Thursday was Holy Thursday and time to visit the learning commons...

...for a visit to the Stations of the Cross.

Mr. Best in the staff room.

He's preparing some jelly beans.

For a lovely Easter Prayer.

On Thursday we read this lovely story...

...about a woman from Africa who made a difference after she was disturbed by all of the plastic bags littering the roadside in her community...a widespread problem in many nations.

She came up with some creative ideas of how to make use of the plastic bags.

She set up a crocheting group with some of her lady friends.

Beautiful.

They were taken to the market place.

Where they were sold.

Notes about the author and her home country of Gambia in West Africa.

A lovely lady.

Plastic pellets.

Many of the plastic bags already collected by our junior students in Mrs. Montsion's class.

Awesome!

So...keep sending in those plastic bags.

We are making a difference!

Here is our Easter art.  We will see more pics of the artwork next week.
Have a joyful Easter weekend everyone!
