Pews were reserved for the Grade Two children.

I managed to snap a couple of images before heading over to my guitar.

Everyone looks so beautiful and handsome.

She's a proud little girl.

So is she.

Mrs. Eaton in pink.

The altar.

Looks beautiful.

Lots of Easter lillies.

The entrance doors.

Here are some of the plastic bags the school collected...tons of them!

A cool creation.

A fun game.

Total focus.

Looking good.

Some outdoor fun!

Cool toys.

Love the jacket!

Is my picture upside down?

I think so!

Zooming along!

Too much fun.

This is the newsletter regarding our "Breakfast on the Shore" celebration to be held May 15th.  Each child is expected to bring a food donation for the breakfast.  These purple forms have been sent home.  Please return your forms by May 6th.  Thank you!

I will post today's pics soon!
All the best!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 146 - Tuesday, April 30

The team for Hot 89.9 came to our school today.

Five of our students were their assistants.

The goal is to drum up interest in having our students set up their own lemonade stands to support children with cancer.

The five children had done exactly that last year.

Our class is seated in the gym.

Ready to listen carefully.

The message was a great one.

One of the young lads who helped out last year.

Lots of eager participants.

Him too.

The children were very interested to learn all about the Hot 89.9 Lemonade Standemonium.
Google the initiative to check it out!

Back in class we got out the math manipulatives.

For we had a tricky assignment to complete.

It was division in math class.

\Working in teams helps us learn better.

We can verify our responses with those of our peers.

If we want to divide 18 by 3 we get out 18 cubes.

We then distribute them into three piles in a fair and equal amount.

We eventually learn that 18 divided by 3 is 6 as each of the three piles has six cubes in it.

There were about twenty divisions to complete.

Lots of thinking takes place.

But they get it done.

If partners get a different answer then the team mates check it over again.

What a great way to learn.

Concentration.

Devotion.

Perseverence.

Then we review our work on the board.

She's got it.

He's having fun!

And so is she...a magician who makes her blue marker float in the air!
Have a great evening everyone!

Day 147 - Wednesday, May 1

Lots of fun in gym class today.

We got out the scooter boards.

And the skipping ropes.

There were lots of happy participants.

Some of the scooter boards can be attached to themselves to create a train.

The hoola hoops help add to the fun.

On the other half of the gym we enjoyed a soccer game.

Where the action was full on.

Entertaining for sure!

Bouncy balls came out as well.

A hoola dancer.

"Pull me, pull me!"

A group affair.

Loads of excitement.

Quite the workout!

The boys got involved as well.

Team mate fun.

One of our posters for the Lemonade Standemonium.

A great lineup.

We later read this wonderful story.

Ask your son/daughter to retell it for you.

One of our class helpers.

We are colouring our fish for our Breakfast on the Shore.

Let's take a gander at...

...some of our Biopoems.

The poems began with the student name.

Then they used a few adjectives to describe themselves.

They spoke about what they cared deeply about.

They told us what makes them happy.

Check in tomorrow to read a few more of the biopoems.

Just a few images taken from last week.

The students love getting outdoors for some fresh air.

Lots of exercising.

The home time bell will ring momentarily.  That's why we have our schoolbags outside with us.

Group fun.

We're loving it.

Two pals.

Three amigos.

He's got his helmet on.  A good lad!
Have a great evening everyone!
Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 148 - Thursday, May 2

These two wonderful singer/musicians visited our school today.

They were a French duet who sang magnificently.

The French teachers were very excited.

Here the students are entering the gym.

We visited the Learning Commons.

Lots of reading taking place.

On the comfortable furniture.

Selecting books.

A nice smile.

"Check this out, Mr. Hamer."

Friends.

Lounging around.

At the tall tables.

The children line up for a free book from Ms. Avilla.

Choosing their free books.

Some non-fiction literature.

Some of our new books.

A terrific trio.

Carpet fun.

A book on Ottawa.

A rhyming book.

A future astronaut.

Great lads.

Enjoying their books.

Some of Ms. Akkawi's friends.

They enjoy coming to our room.

Some more of our biopoems.

We have been writing a lot of poetry this week.

We have completed seven poems so far.

They will be shared throughout next week.

The children enjoy their poetry.

Parents should be able to figure out which poem belongs to their
child.

Loads of personal information for sure.

Looks great!

Just a reminder to return the purple forms for our Breakfast on the Shore.
Have a wonderful evening everyone!
Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 149 - Friday May 3

Time to re-invent the telephone.

Snack time.

A camouflaged pink jell bean.

Today we gained a deeper appreciation for the seasons through the reading of this great story, "Four Seasons for Toby."

Then each student selected a "season" art paper to colour.

Each panel represents each season starting from left to right - winter, spring, summer and fall.

Hard at work.

They're landing on Mr. Hamer's desk!

Two little kitty cats!

Mr. Rapper Papineau.

Earlier in the week...

...we visited the park.

Across the street from the school.

Don't get too dizzy!

Swinging in the breeze,

Still swinging!

A happy lass.

Ditto.

Mrs. Akkawi looks on.

Social climbers.

Hey, it's a lever.

I see the fulcrum!

Higher ground.

Lots of fun.

Parents and guardians are reminded to fill out the purple sheet regarding what each family will send in for our "Breakfast on the Shore" ceremony.
Have a fabulous sun-filled weekend everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT
