And...this lad is in full swing as well!

How about those Monday Vibes.

Let take a closer look at what we are thankful for.
"Thank You God for creating all of the forests of the world."

"Thank You God for creating all of the oceans of the world."

"Thank You God for creating me in the world."

"Thank You God for creating the beautiful flowers.

"Thank You God for creating all of my friends."

"Thank You God for creating all of the animals of the sea."

"Thank You God for creating the rivers and the lakes."

"Thank You God for creating the land and the seas."

"Thank You God for creating the clouds and the rainbows."

"Thank You God for creating these wonderful girls and all of their classmates and teachers!"

This week is Boomerang Lunch Week.  Please encourage your child to bring their food in containers if they can.  All garbage will be sent home or "boomeranged back" this week.  This will be a lesson in protecting the environment for all of the children.  Thank You!

Mr. Hamer will be away from school tomorrow and we will have a "Guest Teacher" for the day.  Mr. Hamer is the school's "Faith Mentor" and he will be attending a boardwide workshop at the board office.  Today, the class had a great discussion of how the class should relate to a guest teacher.  We treat our guest teachers with respect and dignity, just as we would treat a guest invited to dinner in our homes.
Have a wonderful evening to all of our families.  Tomorrow evening I will post more of our "Give Thanks" pages along with a few more pics taken from the class earlier in the year
Mr. Hamer OCT.

Day 28 - Tuesday, Oct.16

Mr. Hamer spent the day at the board office with teachers from all of the schools.

Each school had a single representative.

We were the "Faith Mentors" from each school systemwide.

Lovely art in the boardroom.

Great read-alouds around our Religion themes.

Other items of interest.

Of course, we acknowledge that we meet on native grounds.

Remember this photo from earlier in the year.

Her message is simple yet brilliant.

His shirt is brilliant yet beautifully simple.

She is a glittery girl!

He must be a soccer pro!

Jesus wants us to spread LOVE.

He's definitely a super hero to us!

A football and all kind of ball star!

Flower Power.
Check in tomorrow for more outdoor pics of others from our class.

Yes, we do thank God for creating our planet Earth.

"Thank You God for creating the trees and the grass."

"Thank You God for creating all of the animals of the forest."

"Thank You God for creating my family that I love."

"Thank You God for creating all of the human beings."

"Thank You God for creating the bright stars in the sky."

"Thank You God for creating all of the mountains that are so nice."

"Thank You God for creating the sun and the moon."

Remember that this week is "Boomerang Lunch" week.  All wrappers and extra items that would normally go in the garbage will be sent back home this week.  This is a school wide initiative.  Feel free to send food in containers that can be brought back home.  Thank you for helping out!  Have a fabulous evening!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 29 - Wednesday, Oct.17

We catch up a bit on the blog with some more great shots of our fabulous students taken outdoors earlier in the year.  As her smile tells us, it's great getting out into the fresh air!

A nice sweater helps this handsome lad keep warm.

He's leaving school early on this day, but we were lucky to snap a shot of him before the office called.

Such colour in her shirt and her smile!

"I think the tree behind me might be falling!" he mentions.

"I'll save the day!" says this lad.

Meow!

Still with the kitty cat theme!

We miss you Ms. P.

Cool and confident she is!

Peace to you too!

Wednesday morning found Mr. Hamer covering in Mrs. Akkawi's class.

Cool leggings!

Love the happy faces!

Snack time!

Yum yum!

Five friends!

Three amigos.

Our class visited the gym during Block Two.

We catch the students in warm-up.

Some of the pupils enjoyed the opportunity of leading the warm-up stretches.

They like being leaders.

Then it was time to learn the rules of handball.  The crease belongs to the goalie only.

You can only run when you do "not" have the ball.

Once you are tossed the ball, you must come to a standstill.

Playing goal is challenging.

But the two lads above are up to the task.

In the heat of the action.

Go get it girls!

Ha! Ha! Lots of joy abounds.  Sometimes a boy will be added to one of the sides if one team has one less girl!  We also add a girl to a boys' team if needbe when the situation arises.

Where's that ball?  Ah...there it is!

We practised meditation this day.

I asked the children to pose for these pictures just to show the families.

When we actually began meditating, I put the camera away.

Our meditation time lasted five minutes and it worked will to prepare them for the learning later in the period.  There was so much more happening on this day, but we'll get caught up another time.  Have a lovely evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 30 - Thursday, Oct.18

Choir gathered in Mr. Hamer's classroom at morning recess for a quick final rehearsal for our Friday mass.

Later in the day we gathered at carpet.

For a science experiment.

It looks like it will be an experiment about water.

But it really isn't.  It is an experiment about air.

We have been learning about air and water.

With regard to air, we have learned that it takes up space.

How do we investigate how air takes up space?

Well, we could blow up a balloon.

Or makes some air bubbles.

Or even inflate a bike tire.

We've chosen something different.

We will prove that air takes up space.

By putting a crumpled piece of paper...

...inside a plastic glass.

Then we'll submerse the entire plastic glass in water.

And...when we lift the glass back out of the water, we find that our piece of paper remains dry.

Therefore, the air remained inside the glass...meaning it took up the space inside the glass.

Until...Mr. Hamer tips the glass slightly.  Then we spot the air bubbles escaping.  At this point, water rushes into the glass and makes our piece of paper wet.

We have a great interactive SmartBoard program on Air and Water.

Where we learn so much about the concepts.

As the children touch the SmartBoard, they are taken to new pages...

...where they learn a variety of things about air and water.

By clicking on bold-faced words, we learn the definition of the word.

We can click on other links...

...that take us to more interactive activities.

Here we see the wind dispersing the dandelion seeds.

What will the wind do here?

Looks like a maple seed to me.

Ah yes, the maple seed becomes airborne and travels on its merry way.

The children love these programs.

Indeed, school is so much fun!
Check in later on the weekend for more pics from Thursday and Friday of this week.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 31 - Friday, Oct.19

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Monday, October 22nd is School Photo Day.

On Friday our whole school went to church next door.

We enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving Mass.

The choir sang beautifully and all of the students were so well behaved.

In Block Four we enjoyed some "down time" following a great week of learning.

Some of the students learned a dance from a site on the chrome book.

Others enjoyed practising their math or reading while having fun at the same time.

This young lady can do that funny dance that Mr. Hamer can't...hehehe!

Looks cool.

Some more cool dance moves.

It's nice to see the boys and girls work together.

Sometimes, just hanging out with a friend is fun.

Relaxing.

Cool shirt.

Cool pants!

Cool girl!

Just hanging out with friends and checking out the calculator.

Just chilling!

These two young lasses straightened up the prayer table.  Thank you girls!

Recess time...dress warm.

Sometimes it's an indoor recess.

Where lots of fun can be had.

A gentleman from Ottawa Hydro came to our school on Thursday for a very important Hydro Safety demonstration.

His name was Danny Pece.  Here he is showing a young girl the proper way of pulling a plug out from a wall socket.

A boy gets a turn.

If you visit the website shown above, you can enter a contest to win a tablet.
Next week I will share more pics from the Hydro presentation.

Remember to dress nicely for our school photos tomorrow boys and girls...and teachers too!
Have a blessed Sunday everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT
