January is now in the rear view window.

At the end of each month we create a "class book" about the events of the month.

We went to this blog for ideas for our January page.

We looked back at each of the four weeks we were in school for January.

We jotted down a bunch of ideas on the SmartBoard.

Then the children copied the ones they wanted to include in their summary.

They then coloured the checkerboard pattern.

They coloured a frame.

Some even added a hint of color to the snow.

Which helped to highlight the snow drifts and the snowmen.

They are proud to share their work.

Later, the finished product goes up on our Creation Board.

Some of the frames make use of two colours.

Many certainly filled up their pages.

Some even gave the sky and background a cool colour.

We'll share some more January works of art tomorrow.

"Look, Mr. Hamer...my hair goes this way!"

"Then it goes that way!"

Mr. Hamer brought in a 150 piece puzzle.

Some of the young lads took on the challenge.

The subject is Noah's Ark.

We stayed outdoors following our afternoon recess.

For a few minutes of "Bonus" play time.

With the recent snow fall...

...the ploughs have created even more hills.

We certainly have fun climbing and sliding on them.

Indeed we do!

Nice to just hang out.

Or...make a run for it.

Some structures we made.

Colourful toys.

And...colourful kids!
Have a great evening everyone!

Day 96 - Tuesday, Feb. 5

Yet...

...another...

...Snow Day!  At least that's what the Grade Two students had prayed for.

So...

...each grade...

...combined their students...

...into a single group...

...and each teacher...

...taught the amalgamated class...

...for one block of the day.

I read a story to the boys and girls.

Then we worked on some good old fashioned Phonics!

They aced the activity.

The story we had read earlier was about a young boy who could not skate due to a medical condition.

His team mates cared enough for him to be on their team.

Have your child tell you about the hearwarming story.

We had some indoor fun at recess time.

Ms. Stephanie came in to work with my class...

...which happened to be the combined class today.

The students got to work with Ozobots.

So cool!

They programmed their Ozobot to roam around over lines they had drawn.

With the aid of the little coloured dot stickers, they had their Ozobot do some pretty interesting things when it moved over the sticker.

This one's on a path of its' own.

As is this one.

Thank you Ms. Stephanie for the amazing lesson.
Will share more pics tomorrow.

Back to sharing images of our January class book page.

Looks like wintry colours to me!

This one does too.

Lovely.

Cool job.

Cool, because it's winter!

A great big smile.

For some lovely work.

More smiles.

Brilliant!

Mr. Hamer made this page.

Which happens to be the cover of the book.
See you all tomorrow at our fun weblog!

Day 97 - Wednesday, Feb. 6

Mme Ransom was our guest French teacher today.

The children have French in their first block of the day.

The children were very well behaved for her and I am proud of them all.

We went to gym today to find a professional photographer set up for Grade Six grad photos.

So...when you are given lemons...make lemonade!

Which we did.

We went on our special walk throughout the school.

Where we visited a number of empty classrooms.

We found many interesting artifacts in all of the classrooms.

Mrs. Akkawi's class joined us.

Still more interesting things found.

A kindergarten cloakroom.

Cool kinder classes.

There I am in the mirror.

Making our way around the halls.

We spot some interesting bulletin boards.

Learning about Black History.

Some great works of art.

So colourful.

Fred entertained us over lunch.

His puppy dog, Dino, had fallen in love with the other man's dog and they were expecting puppies!

Another fun puzzle sent in from Mrs. Hamer.

This young lad devotes a great deal of time putting the pieces together.

It wasn't puzzling to him!

Noah's Ark.

Looks good!

Bravo!

Outdoor recess was a lot of fun.

The children crowded around the patches of ice.

They were instructed to stay low on the ice.

Having lots of fun!

Wow!

Looks like a frozen pond in my books!

A dedicated student works on his new class book page about Snow Days!
Check the forecast for tomorrow.  It may very well be another Snow Day!
All the best!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 98 - Thursday, Feb. 7

Lots going on at school today...no different than any other one!
All students have their "January" page up on the My Creation board.

We learning about healthy eating habits today.

Then we performed some group mimes.

The student standing...

...is the apple tree in the orchard.

The student kneeling...

...is on an apple-picking field trip.

The boys and girls...

...love acting in front of the class.

So-o-o-o...here is Mr. Hamer teaching about healthy eating when another teacher comes into the class offering Mr. Hamer a Timbit from Tim Hortons.  She places it on Mr. Hamer's desk...and everyone wants to win it!  "But that's not fair!" Mr. Hamer hears.  Rather than offer the Timbit to a single student, we divide into 12 pieces for the 12 students in attendance today.  Yup...a science health lesson turned into a math dividing lesson.  The children learned that a bit of "junk food" in moderation is okay as long as you eat your fruits and veggies on a daily basis!

Over lunch...

...Mr. Hamer ran choir...

...with Mme Souliere and Mrs. Blackmore.

The piano is great for teaching the melody of a song.

Mrs. Blackmore is a pro on the keys.

Time to stand up and sing.

Dance too!

While still at noontime, a special Aboriginal art lesson is underway...

...in one of our junior classes.

The junior students are excited.

They learn some new techniques.

Pointalism.

Check out their work.

Awesome!

One of the visiting teachers offers some advice.

Meanwhile, back in our class...

...another puzzle gets underway...

Students from Mrs. Akkawi's class come by for a visit.

It's "All Hands on Deck!"

Done!

Bravo lads!

Hey, we have two new students in the room dressed in red.

And...so is she.

Love the shirt!
Have a fantastic evening everyone!

Day 99 - Friday, Feb. 8

Friday was "Super Hero/Villain" day at school.
Mr. Hogg thinks he's Clark Kent and better still...Superman!

Ms. Farrell is a super dish washer...

...as Bat Woman!

Ms. Goeur is Super EA.

Ms. Melanie is...

...Super Scientifique!

Ms. Casselman is...

...wait for it...WOnder Woman!

One of our yuong firends...

...is yet another super guy!

Bat Woman has entered the classroom.

She's hiding her identity!

Check our the costume!

A true Super Hero!

Wow!  Love the super colours.

What's this?

Something's emerging...

...she's awakening!

Team Batman!  Love it!

Cat Woman.

Check out the cat ears!

Simply brilliant!

His shirt says, "My daddy is my superhero!"

It's Cat Woman to the rescue again!
Don't forget about our amazing fundraiser this week!
All the best, Mr. Hamer OCT
