Week Thirty-Nine of School

Day 177 - Monday, June 17

We have been learning about bike safety.

The little girl in the middle is prepared to go biking...she is wearing her helmet!

So is this tandem.

We learned that we should ride in single file on the righthand side of the road.

We should obey all of the traffic lights and traffic signs.

We take care in intersections.

Yes...bike safe, bike smart!

Wearing helmets certainly makes a difference when you fall from your bike.

The strap on the side should make a comfortable "V" shape.

The distance of the helmet from your eyebrows should be about two finger widths.

The strap should be snug.

These children know the rules of the road.

A cool creation.

Made by a cool kid.

Our desks are in rows to close out the year.

This helps us focus with greater concentration...

...as we wind down the year.

We listened to more poetry.

Written by the children.

Recited at the mic.

Proud poets.

Proud to read aloud.

With confidence.

Calm.

Cool.

Collected.

Say, Mr. Hamer was given this puzzle for Father's Day.  It was done by the afternoon!
Have a great evening everyone! Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 178 - Tuesday, June 18

We continue with our bike safety lessons.

Proper signalling.

To tell others your intentions.

When encountering cars on the road...

...establish eye contact with the driver.

Should you have to bike at night...wear reflective clothing.

Have reflectors and lights on your bike.

More poetry.

More reading.

Confidence.

Joy.

Concentration.

Speaking carefully.

Sharing your writing.

Sharing your words.

From poetry to hoola hoops!

You go guys!

You go girls!

That looks like it will be tough!

She's got it.

Great pose.

Three at a time!

Sister act!

Friends.

Brotherly love.

A cool writing area!

In the family!

Handsome lads.

Siblings.

Friendship.

Our mud kitchen.

A nice smile.

Nothin' but blue skies!

Another nice smile.

That's what friends are for!

Another...

...class book...

...based on...

...our science lessons...

...about...

...simple machines...

...of which there are six...

...the wedge...

...the xrew...

...the pulley...

...the wheel and axle...

...the inclined plane...

...and...

...the lever.

Indeed, learning is so much fun!

Day 179 - Wednesday, June 19

Wednesday found us across the street.

Yes...

...we made our way...

...to the park.

Lots of climbing...

...kibitzing...

...swinging...

...more swinging...

...still more swinging...

...in a woodlawn setting.

A social climber!

Did we mention swinging?

Yes we did!

Time for a break.

Oh no...more swinging!

Too much fun!

Nice smile!

A little monkey!

Mr. Papineau is dressed in a funny manner!

Aha!

Now we know why!

Too cool.

Those benches do require some "touch up" shall we say!

And touching up is what they are doing!

Phot bomb!

Made in the shade!

Smiles...

...and laughter!

Going white!

So cool!

A great team!

Well coached!

Safety wear.

Another of our cool recess games!

The children love playing!
Have a great evening everyone!

Day 180 - Thursday, June 20

It's the second to last Thursday of the school year.

Time to remove items from the wall in the hallway.

And...from the walls in the classroom.

Let's take a closer look.

Lots of cool looking items.

Let's see...

...our "Every CHild Matters" T-shirt...

...our butterfly art which we did in the first month of school...

...our hot air balloons...

...which are three-dimensional ...

...our "Inventory of Me'' writing selection...

...our face on a magnet...

...yes...these will go home today...

...to brighten up your home.

It's fun to see the variety in the colours for each item.

Some pastel colours.

The "seasonal art stained glass" sure looks impressive.

We are very proud of our efforts.

We'll keep up our creativity over the summer holidays.

Our shirt and face magnet really go together well!

So...

...check out your child's art work.

Next week the students will be bringing work home each day.

Thanks for checking in..

...on our artwork.

Mrs. Akkawi's children joined us for the day.

After finishing up our work...

...we get to play...

...the girls are having fun...

...with their creative play...

Speaking of creativity...check out this little colourful creature.

Thanks to all the families who have signed up to visit Mr. Hamer's model railroad.
Your second form went home tonight with my address and directions to my home.
The image above was taken on my home model railroad!
Have a great evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 181 - Friday, June 21

Hi Father Peirera!

Friday morning found us at church.

We celebrated our year-end mass where we said farewell to our Grade Six students and all of the staff that will be leaving.

This young lady did some amazing research on the red panda.

What a cute little creature.

Their markings are quite distinctive.

With rings on their tails.

They live near their cousins.

Hanging around is what they do well.

This lad studied the regular panda.

Also a cute little critter!

He even gets to hold a pet version in class.

Like the red pandas, the panda spends most of its time in the trees.

Yummy meal.

Lots of little ones.

Oh...

...to lounge around all day!

Like this one is doing on this other lad's arm.

This young lady studied a wonderful member of the bird family.

The snowy owl.

A cute rendition of this beautiful creature.

Handsome!

White beauties.

On the hunt.

What an appetite.

Ready for action.

This lad loves fast cats!

 Indeed...

...the fastest land animal in the world.

But it can only run fast for a short amount of time.

It better catch its prey in that time frame or it will tire out.

We must do more to protect so many of God's creatures.

This little girl likes tall animals.

Like the giraffe.

Mother and child.

A strong bond.

A sentinel standing guard.

So others may drink.

As they are vulnerable in this pose.

A thick tongue for protection from the thorns.

This young lad likes striped animals.

So he researched zebras.

Galloping along.

We learn new things each day in school.

Like fingerprints!

A family.

Teeth like a beaver!

What did I tell you!  Hehehe!

Grooming each other!

Mud.

Kitchen.

Spells "Mud Kitchen!"

Happy faces.

Fun play.

Mud Pie.

Too much mud fun!

Did we say...

...too much mud fun!

Yes we did!

She's about to spin you around!

It sure is fun in the great outdoors.

A furry friend.

Creative play.

Just hanging around!

A lovely concoction.

Colourful dress.

Saying "Hi!"

A mystery friend.

Scary but funny too!

Back at the park...

...from a few days earlier...

...we enjoyed a lovely morning.

Real singers!

Giddy up!

Say cheese!

A great little play area.

That can accommodate so many.

Weee!

Water fun!

Remember...we are going to the Splash Pad on Tuesday with all of our Grade Two friends!

Many on staff wore "red" to support "ed"...yes, to support Catholic Education.

I look forward to hosting many of you tomorrow morning...

...for a visit to my model railroad (pictured in the two images above).

Just a "heads up!"  This just happened this afternoon (Saturday) at the corner of Arch Street and Wingate Drive (my street).

The city has been called...but just in case they do not have the tree branch cleaned up by tomorrow morning, simply make this short detour.  Heading north on Arch Street, turn right (east) on Chapman.  Turn left (north) on Saunderson.  Then turn left (west) on to Wingate Drive where you will find my home on the right quite a ways down the street!  Have a great rest of the weekend everybody!
