Yabba Dabba Doo!  It's a four day school week.

  5.  by          10. right

We practised our spelling words on the good old-fashioned blackboard before we wrote our test today.

Tomorrow I will post this week's words.

The children truly enjoy coming up front to the board.

And sharing what they know with their peers.

They're pretty good little spellers!

Some examples...

...from our homework this week...

...when we expressed our gratefulness...

...to the men and the women who went overseas...

...to fight for peace...

...and for freedom.  I will share more examples later in the week.

This afternoon our Grade Six buddy class came by to visit.

We had fun working together.

Mr. Papineau found it very relaxing in our room.

The children finished colouring the background from their homework.

The grade six "invaders" enter the room in a stealth fashion!

An eager artist.

Yup, those are their school bags on the floor.  Looks like they are filled with homework!

On task.

Working hard.

Helping friends.

Finishing up some older art from October 31st.

This young lady is wondering why there are all boys around!  Big grin.

Enjoyment.

That lad in the white shirt must have played football out on the field at recess time.

Focused attention.

The art table.

Mr. Papineau checks in on the math we were doing.

Another lower view of the art table.

Off to a great start.

That's attention to detail.

Wonderful!

Artistic!

Cool colour selections.

Love it!

Nicely done!

Working together...

...in a quiet manner.

Off they go!

Another view from our Remembrance Day ceremony.

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is the deadline to send in your photo orders.

And...Wednesday is the deadline to order discounted tickets to the Ottawa 67's game where our school choir sings the National Anthem a week from this Saturday.  In the above photo we are backstage under the arena awaiting the call to head out onto the ice before singing the anthem last year!  Have a great evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 48 - Tuesday, Nov. 13

Mr. Hamer is out at a banquet this evening, but wanted to get the blog out to parents quickly.  Captions will be short.  Here is a lovely Remembrance Wreath made by Mrs. Roche's class.

Our Gospel Wall.

Our art is there too!

Another glance at the wreath.

Today we worked on identifying "pattern cores."

We also extended patterns.

She's proud as punch!

He's working on the core.

Aha!  Atta boy!

Great adding on!

Well done!

Working in groups.

Friends.

A handsome helper.

A terrific trio.

Turns into the fab four!

Red is best.

Too cool.

Yup, we're awesome at our patterns.

Nice teams.

Hands up!

The library is set for choir.

We assemble in the pit.

Warm-ups!

Rapt attention.

We rehearse for the anthem.

They are an eager crew!

More hedgehogs are completed.

Nicely done.

Cool girls for sure...

...colour cool hedgehogs!

All a-smile.

For a great work of art!

Still more homework to share.

Around Remembrance.

Lots of lovely writing.

We wish for peace on earth.
Remember...tomorrow is the deadline for sending in any Ottawa 67's ticket forms.
Have a great evening everyone!

Day 49 - Wednesday, Nov. 14

Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday as there is a PD Day.

On Wednesday we were wrapping up older activities we had on the back burner.

The children enjoyed colouring their witches from Halloween.

Then we glued them onto a sheet of black construction paper.

Some of the students asked Mr. Hamer to help with the chalk drawing.

Mr. Hamer had fun helping out.

Colourful witches.

In creative scenes.

Looking good.

A scary picture.

From the night of haunts.

Love the message on the shirt.

Spooky dooky!

Awesome.

A nice little gift from a nice little girl and her mom.  Thanks so much!
I will post today's pics tomorrow evening.  All the best.  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 50 - Thursday, Nov. 15

Our last day of the weeks finds us dressing up for the great outdoors.

While teachers work in the warmth of the school.  This is my good friend Chris Nihmey, renowned author of books for children and for adults.

We made it to the learning commons.

Hey...the lads have the same book out!

Peekaboo!

Lazing around.

Yup...some lounge lizards.

Happy readers.

Focused on the printed word.

Ditto.

Flex seating.

The flexible seating offers many choices for the children.

Comfy too!

Back at work in the classroom.

In our groups.

Smile everyone!

Too much fun.

Engaged pupils.

Yet another hedgehog emerges.

A colourful creation.

A little visitor.

Great shirt.

Great student!
Have a fun a snow-filled weekend everyone!
