Hmmm...we see 100 marbles in the marble jar!

This must mean that today is 100's Day!

Yes it is!

A new song is laid out on the carpet.

It's an old song sung by Sharon, Lois and Bram.

Mr. Hamer got the guitar out for this one.

Time for some math group work.

We are working on subtraction.

Snack time fun.

The children work well in their groupings.

Tomorrow I will be changing them up...

...as we rearrange the classroom every three weeks or so.

A new puzzle has arrived!

While an earlier one is still awaiting completion.

Why are the girls pointing to the hand towel dispenser?

"We don't know, Mr. Hamer!" they say.

Aha!

An elf hiding place.

The new puzzle is completed before the end of the school day.

Looks great!

A look back at last week's activities.

Having fun with the Ozobots.

Ms. Stephanie helps out.

He's having fun.

Other centres going on during the snow day.

Colourful activities.

Colourful children.

Love the vibrant coloured gears.

Outdoors last week.

We had our own version of the Rideau Canal.

Located behind the two portables.

Imagine...we may have another "Snow Day" Wednesday!  Yikes!
Have a great evening everyone!  Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 101 - Tuesday, Feb. 12

The children arrived school Tuesday to find another activity to partake in during our inclement recess periods when it is too cold or icy to play outdoors.

Mrs. Hamer discovered this interesting form of hockey.

The
All it is is a wooden board with wooden pucks and two elasticized bands at each end of the "rink".

The participants simply pull a puck back against the string like a bow and arrow.

The puck then flies ahead.

The goal is to shoot all of your five pucks through the opening in the center bar which will take them into your opponent's side of the rink.

Of course, your opponent is trying to do the same with his/her five pucks.

A winner is declared when all ten pucks end up in the opponent's end.

We also have three puzzles on the go at all times in the class.
Mrs. Hamer found some great puzzle boards for the children to use.

An "Elfie Selfie".  Cool!

Nice effort with the toys!

In Religion class students from Mrs. Akkawi once again visited our room.

We watched a cartoon about the story of Zacchaeus.

He was the tax collector who cheated the people.

You'll recall that when Jesus came to his town, Jesus wanted to meet him.

Zacchaeus couldn't see Jesus due to the large crowds so he climbed a tree.

Where he was spotted by Jesus.

Jesus asked Zacchaeus to host him in his home.

Through meeting Jesus...

...Zacchaeus became a changed man.

He told Jesus that he would repay all those he stole from giving them four times more the value of money that he had stolen.  He was a changed man who wanted to say sorry to all he mistreated.

The temps were too cold to head outdoors.

Meaning...

...it would be indoor recess once again.

There are tons of activities for the children to experience.

Games...

...toys...

...construction...

...role playing...

...teamwork...

...so cool!

The plant project in Grade Three.

Wonderful games.

An interesting marble runway.

You turn the sphere until you complete the maze.

Back in our room.

The hockey game can be played on the floor as easily as it is played on a desktop.

In the height of the action...

Too much fun.

The girls got involved too.

One girl is almost there!

Love the message!

A great student in a class of great students!

Yup!  Being a teacher is so much fun!
All the best, Mr. Hamer OCT

Wednesday, Feb. 13
No school today due to the snowstorm!

My puppy, Lilly has her own chair and her own side table.
She seems to be pining as she loves being in the great outdoors.

She like to stand up on her chair with her paws on her side table which affords her the opportunity to check outside.

"Aha!  That's better!" she says.

For she is a winter dog!

Who loves the snow.

And a lot of the white stuff we have!

She doesn't mind if Mr. Hamer and Mrs. Hamer complete a puzzle showcasing some of her wilder relatives (after they came in from shoveling all that white stuff!
Hopefully we will make it to school tomorrow!
Have a great "snowy" day everyone!
Mr. Hamer OCT

Day 102 - Thursday, Feb. 14

February 14th...

...it's Valentine's Day!

Yabba Dabba Doo!

While the teachers were excited...

...the boys and girls were even moreso!

With all of the baked goods they could win.

Scrumptious!

Delicious!

Yummy.

Looks tasty!

Yes...Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Tummy friendly.

Red...

...white...

...and pink.

The gymnasium looks ready...

..for a Valentine's Day dance.

Lots of funds coming in.

Cool treats.

Sharing Valentine's wishes with each other in class.

Sibling love!

Friendship.

Cool photography.

With a ton of costumes to work with.

What to wear?

The treat table in the hallway.

The girls are excited.

Lots of cool dance moves.

Cool apparel.

"I love Valentine's Day!" she says with a smile.

"Come into the dance!" this young lad announces.

Back tot he green screen.

That photo will look so good!

In costume!

A heart for you!
Have a lovely four-day weekend everyone!'
